Saint Calinic of Cernica, Bishop of Râmnic, 150 years after his birth into the eternal Kingdom
His Eminence Varsanufie Saint Calinic of Cernica, Bishop of Râmnic (1850–1868), is presented as the most prominent figure of the Archdiocese of Râmnic, 150 years after his passing. This article examines his spiritual work, rooted in Paisian spirituality, his charitable foundations and the printing press at Râmnic, the reorganisation of the Seminary, and his decisive contribution to the reconstruction of the town following the fire of 1847.
