Origen’s treatise On Prayer (Περὶ Εὐχῆς), written around 234–235 in Caesarea in Palestine at the request of Ambrose and Tatiana, is analysed with a focus on the theology of εὐχαριστίας, the prayer of thanksgiving, which Origen regards as the highest form of prayer, grounded in the recognition of God’s gifts and in the loving relationship between the Creator and humankind.
