The links between the Romanian-speaking world and Greek-speaking Orthodoxy, as reflected in several manuscripts from Cernica, produced by the scholar Naum Râmniceanu (I)
Dr. Oana-Mădălina Popescu The Romanian manuscripts from the former library of Cernica Monastery, now held at the Library of the Romanian Academy, contain two parallel translations of the Ecclesiastical History by Metropolitan Meletius of Athens: one produced by Naum Râmniceanu at Cernica, with the blessing of Saint Calinic, and another by Metropolitan Veniamin Costachi, copied at Neamț. These manuscripts illustrate the links between the Romanian-speaking world and Greek-speaking Orthodoxy, as well as the connections between the monastic communities of Wallachia and Moldavia in the first half of the nineteenth century.
