The Church and the Union of 1918
Academician, Professor, University Professor, Dr Mircea Păcurariu Marking the centenary of the Great Union, the article recounts the sacrifices and contributions of the Romanian clergy – from Transylvania, Bessarabia, Bukovina, Muntenia and Oltenia – during the First World War and in bringing about the union of 1918, highlighting military chaplains, those who were deported, those who were shot, and delegates to the Assembly at Alba Iulia, such as Bishop Miron Cristea and Iuliu Hossu.
