Studia Theologica No. II (XII) / 2021 Anthropological conflicts concerning the correlation between dogma and ethos within the Church Associate Professor Stoyan Chilikov
This article analyses the relationship between dogma and ethos in the tradition of the Orthodox Church, examining how secularisation – from Paul of Samosata and the schism of Novatus right up to the modern era – gives rise to two opposing distortions of this correlation: fundamentalism and liberalism. The reader comes to understand that both extremes share a common root in secularism and represent deviations from the authentic synthesis of dogma and ethos, as illustrated by Scripture, the Holy Fathers and hymnography.
