Studia Humanitatis No. I (XXI) / 2026 The heretical pharaoh, the Jewish pharaoh and the female pharaoh - a (non-)erased history Maria Anastasiu
The article explores Moses’ place in the chronology of ancient Egypt, arguing - on the basis of biblical and Byzantine sources, as well as recent Egyptological research - that the great prophet lived during the 18th Dynasty, not in the time of Ramses II. The pharaohs Ahmose I, Thutmose III, Hatshepsut and Akhenaten are analysed as figures directly linked to the Exodus narrative.
