#Atanasie Mironescu

Metropolitan Atanasie Mironescu, elected Primate in February 1909 by an almost unanimous vote, carried out intensive pastoral, synodal and scholarly work at the head of the Metropolis of Ungrovlahia, characterised by pastoral letters, circulars, speeches and canonical visits. His ministry was overshadowed by a synodal trial initiated by Bishop Gherasim Safirin of Roman, which concluded in June 1911 with his unanimous acquittal, followed by his resignation and retirement to Cernica Monastery, where he continued to publish until his death in 1931.

Bishop Athanasius of Râmnic - Noul Severin carried out a canonical visit on 24-25 August 1903 to the parishes of Brezoi, Mălaia and Voineasa in the Lotru Valley, Vâlcea County, before continuing on a mountain hike to the Vidra outpost. The chronicle of the visit captures the moral and material condition of the parishioners, the history of the churches, local figures such as Professor Traian Bratu, and descriptive accounts of the natural landscape of this valley.

Between 1898 and 1909, Bishop Athanasius of Râmnic - Noul Severin carried out a wide range of cultural, administrative and synodal activities, which took the form of translations and ecclesiastical publications, the consecration of over 150 churches in Oltenia, the founding of the magazine Cuvântul Adevărului, the re-establishment of the Seminary at Bistrița, and his election as an honorary member of the Romanian Academy in 1909.

Bishop Antim Petrescu of Râmnic (1918-1919), elected in July 1918 and dismissed by government decree in November of the same year, carried out an intensive pastoral ministry in Oltenia, visiting parishes, supporting the construction and renovation of churches, and taking an active interest in the social issues facing the peasantry and war orphans, and leaving behind the memory of a self-sacrificing hierarch, as recalled by Nicolae Iorga, Gala Galaction and Archimandrite Iuliu Scriban.
