Lucian of Antioch and his theological legacy
Associate Professor, PhD Svetoslav Rybolov This article examines the origins and nature of the Antiochian School of Theology, focusing on the life and works of Saint Lucian of Antioch (c. 240–312), who is regarded as its founder. It analyses his ‘Review of Holy Scripture’, his relationship with the Arian heresy and with Paul of Samosata, as well as the historiographical controversy – from Adolf Harnack to Gustav Bardy and Panayiotis Christou – concerning the authenticity of his theological legacy and his ecclesiastical canonisation.
